Virat Kohli Fans Heartbroken as He Was Bowled Out for 6 at Ranji Match Between Delhi and the Railways

The excitement surrounding Kohli’s return to domestic cricket had drawn massive crowds to Arun Jaitley Stadium on Day 1.
Virat Kohli’s much-anticipated homecoming for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy did not go as expected for his fans. The 36-year-old batter, playing his first Ranji match for Delhi, was sent packing for just 6 runs off 15 balls by Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan. Kohli had looked promising initially, hitting a brilliant straight drive for a boundary just before his dismissal. However, Sangwan pulled his length back and deceived the Indian icon, knocking over his stumps to the disappointment of the large crowd.
The excitement surrounding Kohli’s return to domestic cricket had drawn massive crowds to Arun Jaitley Stadium on Day 1. Fans lined up as early as 3 AM, eager to witness their idol in action. Kohli, known for his electrifying connection with the crowd, did his best to engage with fans, keeping their spirits high throughout the day. However, the early dismissal left many disappointed, and the mood quickly shifted as fans began leaving the stadium shortly after Kohli’s departure.
With Kohli failing to make an impact in the first innings, all eyes now turn to his second innings. Fans, who had come in droves hoping for a memorable performance, will be hoping that Kohli can bounce back with a defining knock when he returns to bat.
This appearance in the Ranji Trophy comes after a challenging period for Kohli in international cricket. During the previous Test season, Kohli scored just one century, with no half-centuries in the remaining 10 Tests. His only century came in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, but he couldn’t build on that form, managing less than 100 runs in total across the next four matches. This underperformance, coupled with a collective batting slump in the Indian team, led the BCCI to mandate the participation of international players like Kohli in the Ranji Trophy to regain form and fitness.
Kohli had trained with Delhi’s Ranji squad earlier in the week and played under the captaincy of Ayush Badoni on Day 1. With the second innings on the horizon, fans remain hopeful that Kohli can deliver the performance they’ve been eagerly waiting for.
