Their presentation, themed Culture Beyond Boundaries, captivated an elite audience of 70 heads of missions led by MEA.

One of the most remarkable highlights of the Advantage Assam conclave was the extraordinary workshop-cum-performance by violinist Sunita Bhuyan and her team.

Their presentation, themed Culture Beyond Boundaries, captivated an elite audience of 70 heads of missions led by Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, alongside prominent ministers and officials of Assam.

The enthralling recital showcased a seamless blend of classical, folk, Celtic, Gypsy, and Assamese Bihu music, accompanied by a compelling narration about India’s unity in diversity.

The ambassadors and consular officers in attendance were left spellbound, with many stating they had never experienced such a unique fusion of violin, vocals, and storytelling in a single performance. Jaishankar commended Sunita Bhuyan’s ability to present India’s cultural richness, saying such performances exemplify the essence of India’s Amrit Kaal.

Sunita Bhuyan’s act transcended mere entertainment, weaving a narrative that connected Bharat Darshan, Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s legacy, nature, sustainability, and the livelihoods of artists. Her storytelling resonated deeply with the objectives of the Advantage Assam summit, demonstrating how art and culture can foster global partnerships and collaborations.

Beyond performance, Bhuyan’s contributions extend into academia and leadership. As a management trainer and the first musician to design a course on Indian Art for Aesthetics & Sustainability at IIM Shillong, she plays a vital role in integrating cultural wisdom into leadership development. Her expertise also contributes to the PMO’s Karmayogi Bharat project.

Recently, she enthralled the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Symphony of Ashtalakshmi, featuring 35 artists from Northeast India, hosted by the Ministry of DoNER. Through her work, Sunita Bhuyan continues to prove that art is a powerful medium for collaboration and cultural diplomacy.
