Villagers last evening temporarily suspended their agitation against ONGCL at Ujjani Konwar village in Sivasagar district of upper Assam.
The agitation came to rest after ONGCL assured an invitation of delegation from the village to hold talks with the Executive Director of the company, Assam Asset office based in Nazira.
The villagers have, however, made it clear that they would resume their agitation in a more aggressive way if the talks fail to produce any proper results.
The villagers had earlier alleged that operations by the company have resulted in large scale pollution in the area after which on Wednesday, they blocked operations by the company and resorted to a road blockade.
