A vehicle while crossing the Kaliabhomora bridge lost control and fell into the Brahmaputra river below.
The vehicle lost control broke through the railings and fell straight into the Brahmaputra river below.
The police and SDRF team rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the accident initiating an immediate search operation.
Due to a lack of credible eyewitnesses, it is not yet clear about the type of vehicle or about how many passengers were inside the vehicle. The vehicle is yet to be traced.
“Looking into the extent of damage into the railings we suspect that the vehicle which has fallen into the river is a heavy one like a truck,” informed an Assam Police personnel from the spot.
“Right now SDRF and River Thana are conducting the search operations,” he further added.
The Kaliabhomora bridge connects the Nagaon district of Assam to the Sonitpur district.
It is not for the 1st time that such an accident has taken place over the bridge in the Brahmaputra. The bridge has been known for such accidents which with some losing their life as of yet.
As per the latest reports the vehicle or its passengers has not been traced as of yet.
