Manipur CM N Biren Singh has extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the historic peace deal that was signed between the UNLF and the Govenment of India.
The Manipur Chief Minister returned from New Delhi this afternoon after the signing of the peace pact on November 29. He was accorded a warm welcome at the Imphal airport by his cabinet ministers as well as party MLAs.
Briefing newspersons at the airport after his arrival, the Manipur Chief Minister said, “I would like to congratulate and appreciate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his initiative to bring peace and normalcy in the state of Manipur particularly, and the entire Northeast also. I also thank Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his relentless effort to bring peace and normalcy in the state, under his leadership this agreement was signed.”
CM Singh appreciated the decision of the UNLF to return to the mainstream and congratulated them. In his congratulatory message, the Chief Minister stated, “Once again I would like to thank cadres and members of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) for coming up for the peace agreement.”
The Manipur Chief Minister was greeted by BJP workers at Thambal Sanglen, the headquarters of Manipur BJP in Imphal.
Sharing a post on X, the Manipur CM said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated Karyakartas of the BJP for the warm reception at Thambal Sanglen, Imphal.
The positive momentum generated by the peace talks with UNLF instills confidence in the path ahead. The support of the people is invaluable in shaping the destiny of our state. Let us collaboratively strive towards a prosperous future for Manipur.”
The UNLF, Manipur’s oldest valley-based armed group, signed a peace agreement with the Centre and the Manipur government on November 29. The UNLF signed a mutual ceasefire agreement paving the way for a negotiated settlement.
