United National Liberation Front chairman RK Meghen, who was released from Guwahati central jail earlier this month, is all set to return to Manipur on Thursday, as per reports.

Meghen is returning to the state after 44 long years. Meghen or Sanayaima as he was known as, will arrive at Imphal airport around 1.30 pm tomorrow. He has been out of the state since 1975.

It may be mentioned that soon after his release from the Guwahati jail on November 10th, Meghen was taken to Delhi by the NIA and kept in an undisclosed location.

As per security sources, Meghen was not detained but was taken for what can be termed a debriefing of sorts.

Moreover, sources also said that the security agencies might have felt that the timing was not conducive for Meghen’s return to Manipur.

It may be mentioned that Meghen became the chairman of the UNLF in 1984.
