The United Democratic Party (UDP) has confirmed that it will contest the Ranikor by-poll despite the fact that its alliance partner NPP is going all out to snatch the seat from the Congress.
The by-poll has been necessitated by the resignation of Martin M Danggo as a legislator. Danggo is slated to contest the by-poll on an NPP ticket.
UDP president Donkupar Roy told Northeast Live that since the UDP had a pre-poll alliance only with HSPDP it will go ahead to contest the polls in Ranikor.
Roy, however, added that irrespective of the outcome of the bypoll, the UDP will continue to support the NPP-led coalition government in the state.
