Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal speaks exclusively to Northeast Live

Union minister of Ports, Shipping and waterways AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has special plans on the cards to bring in holistic reforms with his actions.

In an exclusive interview with Northeast Live, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal spoke on various issues – from the AYUSH ministry to the various development projects carried out in the Northeast under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure.

First of all, speaking on the Centre’s ambitious plan to link Ganga with the Brahmaputra, Sarbananda Sonowal said that it is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to link the inland waterways, especially one river with the other river system. Sonowal said that his department (Shipping & Waterways) is working round the clock to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision.

Besides, Sarbananda Sonowal said that the AYUSH ministry has become very important becasuse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special emphasis.

Sonowal said, “He (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) has given special interest to promote AYSUH in the nation. He is the first Prime Minister in Independent India to give special thrust to promote AYUSH. That is why he created an independent ministry.”

Meanwhile, Sarbananda Sonowal exuded confidence that BJP will have a clean sweep in the impending elections in 3 Northeast states of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. He added that no other political party can ensure holistic development in the region.
