CM Biren also outlined plans for youth employment and infrastructure development.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has revealed that the Centre held an important meeting in New Delhi yesterday to address the month-long ethnic crisis in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Training Centre and three Night Shelters for building and other construction workers in Imphal, the Chief Minister said that the people of Manipur have been facing significant challenges during this unprecedented period of unrest.
CM Biren Singh expressed hope that the meeting would pave the way for a resolution to the prolonged crisis. He emphasized that the state government has been working tirelessly since the crisis began to restore peace and stability. He, however, refrained from divulging any details about the meeting.
Under the initiative to support the displaced youth living in relief camps, the Chief Minister announced that 2,000 youths will be trained for 3-4 months and then employed in companies outside the state by taking all the responsibilities including food and lodging. Of these, 80% of the job opportunities will be reserved for youth from relief camps, while the remaining spots will be open to other youths in the state.
Additionally, the Chief Minister shared that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 400 crore for the repair of roads damaged by recent floods.
He added that within a short period, the construction of full concrete roads will begin in the Greater Imphal area and the district headquarters in the hill regions. These roads will offer greater durability compared to traditional coal-tar roads, benefiting the public for years to come.
