While the effort to start a peace process with the ULFA-Independent by the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government has been appreciated by all, it has now come under the shadow

While the effort to start a peace process with the ULFA-Independent by the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government has been appreciated by all, it has now come under the shadow of doubt that the outfit is only using it as a cover up.

As per a confidential communiqué issued by the DGP (SB) of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia, the ULFA-I is trying to extort money from contractors and tea garden owners while at the same time trying to influence youths to join the outfit.

The communique states that for this purpose, a 10 to 12 member team of Ulfa Independent cadres have already infiltrated into the districts of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia from the Taga -1 camp of the outfit in Myanmar.

The group is led by self styled sergeant major British Dahotiya and his cousin Japan Dahotiya. The communiqué further states that after entering Assam via Arunachal Pradesh, the group has split into two halves and has started its activities.

Following the communique, the police authorities in the twin districts have issued an alert across all police stations and with other security forces on the ground.
