The Centre is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that permanent peace prevails in the entire Northeast particularly after the signing of the historic Bodo peace accord.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is all set to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to deliberate on the ULFA-I peace talks issue.

According to highly placed sources, both Chief Minister Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma raised the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s visit to Kokrajhar yesterday.

Following this, Prime Minister Modi recommended Chief Minister Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma to thoroughly discuss the matter with Home Minister Amit Shah and formally begin the process.

Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sarma in presence of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had once again sent out an open invitation to the anti-talk faction of the ULFA-Independent to come to the negotiating table.
