In a big development, Kamrup District and Sessions Court has sentenced Goalpara Superintendent of Police Amitabh Sinha to a 2-year jail term in connection with a 2013 case related to Custodial torture of a murder accused Gurmeet Singh.
In addition the Sessions Court has also slapped a fifty thousand rupees fine on Amitabh Sinha.
However, the Kamrup Sessions Court has granted bail to the Assam Police official after Sinha filed a bail plea before the Court.
