Two people saved from drowning in Assam’s Dima Hasao

The health conditions of the rescued persons are reportedly stable

It was a close shave for two people when villagers of P Kurongwari in Dima Hasao of Assam saved them from drowning.

In an act of bravery, the villagers rescued the two from drowning in rising floodwaters on Sunday.

As per inputs, a boat containing 8 people, who were returning from the weekly market, was swept away due to a sudden increase in the water level.

Six of the eight people swam to safety, but two were getting swept away by the gushing, rising water as they were unable to swim.

The duo was swept away to a distance of around 2 kilometres by the gushing water.

It was the prompt action of a few villagers that saved their lives. The two people were identified as Projit Longmailai and Sibona Hojai.
