Two Active Cadres of PLA Arrested in Manipur

The arrested persons are now in the custody of police for further legal proceedings.

Manipur Police arrested two active members of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) in Imphal West district.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Kharaijam Ronald Singh (37) and Takhellambam Surjit Sharma (39).

After getting inputs, the commandos of the Imphal West district police launched an operation at Pheiding crossing, Imphal West district adjoining Kangpokpi district on Monday to nab the cadres.

The police seized two mobile handsets, a wallet containing a sum of Rs.130, and a four-wheeler.

The arrested persons are now in the custody of police for further legal proceedings.

Earlier on February 17, Manipur Police apprehended an active member of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF)/People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from Khongman Mangjil, Zone-I, in Imphal East.

The arrested individual, identified as Shamurailatpam Bipin Sharma alias Nanda (56).

Authorities revealed that Sharma had been engaged in extorting money from the general public, government officials, and educational institutions, including schools and colleges.
