Tunnel caves in, 1 worker dead at NHPC’s Lower Dibang Valley Project

The deceased has been identified as Parimal Uday and hails from Cooch Behar in West Bengal.
In a tragic incident, a person died after a tunnel caved at National Hydroelectric Power Corporation’s (NHPC) project in Arunachal’s Lower Dibang Valley on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the wee hours around 3 am at Dampuk in Lower Dibang Valley.
As per inputs, the incident happened when the NHPC dam project work was going on.
The deceased has been identified as Parimal Uday and hails from Cooch Behar in West Bengal.
The body, in the meantime has been sent to Roing for a postmortem.
On June 6, 2022, one worker was also killed when the roof of an under-construction tunnel of the NHPC’s Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (HEP) collapsed and fell on workers.
The roof of Intact Tunnel No. 2 at the project in Gerukamukh suddenly fell, killing one worker, identified as Jitu Hatibarua, and injuring another.
NHPC Workers’ Union Secretary Johnny Pegu said that the incident was “very unfortunate” and the authorities should pay adequate compensation to the victim’s family.
