CM further mentioned that the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation has helped 1,617 individuals secure jobs.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said that the state’s unemployment rate has dropped significantly and is now lower than the national average.

Speaking at a programme where 479 appointment letters were distributed among government job aspirants, Manik Saha referred to the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation’s Periodical Labour Force Survey. He stated that Tripura’s unemployment rate has fallen sharply from 10% in 2018-19 to just 1.7% at present, compared to the national average of 3.2%.

The Chief Minister said that since the BJP-led government came to power in 2018, a total of 16,942 individuals have been appointed to various government posts without any political bias. In addition, 5,771 people have been hired through outsourcing, and many others have found employment in private security and allied services sectors.

CM Manik Saha further mentioned that the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation has helped 1,617 individuals secure jobs. He also recalled that on February 6 this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed 2,806 appointment letters across 37 departments in a single event in Agartala, a record in Tripura’s history.

Highlighting the government’s focus on women’s empowerment, CM said that more than 91,000 women in Tripura have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) supported by the Tripura Rural and Urban Livelihood Missions. SHG members have received a total financial assistance of Rs 746.80 crore to support various entrepreneurial ventures.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to transparent governance, employment generation, and efficient service delivery, CM Manik Saha said these efforts align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant and empowered India.

On the day, appointment letters were handed over to new recruits across several departments, including the Social Welfare and Social Education (SW&SE) Department, the Public Works Department (PWD), and the Tripura State Cooperative Bank.
