Tripura vlogger assaulted over Eid video

A video clip of a popular vlogger of Tripura, Bapan Nandi, being assaulted by a woman, learned to be an elected panchayat member of the ruling BJP in southern Tripura’s Gomati district, has gone viral in the social media as netizens are protesting against it. Surprisingly a police complain has been filed in the R K Pur police station against the victim Bapan, by the Hindu Jagaran Mancha, a body linked to the ruling BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The incident occurred on April 22 and is now taking a political turn with the opposition CPIM condemning the act projecting it as a sign of ongoing lawlessness in the state beside an attempt to divide the society in the name of religion and urged that the police to take a suo motto case against those involved with physically assaulting the vlogger and on the basis of the vital video in the social media.
