They were stopped meeting the CM by security forces

A significant number of teacher aspirants who passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examination gathered near Ganaraj Chowmhuni, gehraoongi Tripura CM Manik Saha’s residence today.

Their primary demand was the prompt distribution of their appointment letters, emphasizing the urgent need to address the severe teacher shortage affecting the quality of education in schools.

They gathered to seek an appointment with the CM to discuss their concerns. The aspirants were stopped by security forces stationed at the CM’s residence from moving any further.

They highlighted their previous unsuccessful attempts to meet the CM, who is also the education minister, expressing frustration at the government’s reluctance to address their appointment concerns despite the fact that they passed the examination more than a year ago.

With only 361 out of 38,000 TET 2022 examinees qualifying, the aspirants argued that the state government should expedite the appointment process, given the substantial number of vacant teacher positions.

One of the protesting teacher-aspirant, speaking to media said, “The education system is on the verge of collapse due to the shortage of teachers, there has been instances of even students taking classes of their junior students.”

The security forces intervened and dispersed the demonstrators.
