TSF has announced its unyielding support and solidarity with Bubagra (King in Kokborok language). urged people to join the protest in large numbers
Tripura’s royal scion and TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma is all set to begin his fast-unto-death from 11 am today at Hathai Kotor in West Tripura, demanding a permanent constitutional solution to the demands of the indigenous people, the Tiprasas.
Huge security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incidents.
Massive support is pouring in for Debbarma from the indigenous people of the state as hundreds are expected to join their Bubagra’s fast-unto-death as a mark of solidarity and support.
Yesterday, the Twipra Students Federation (TSF) announcing its unyielding support and solidarity with Bubagra urged people to join the protest in large numbers.
Meanwhile ahead of Debbarma’s proposed fast-unto-death, Chief Minister Manik Saha has rushed to Delhi last evening.
Earlier, yesterday Pradyot Debbarma visited Hathai Kotor and said, “The community is way greater than the party and I understand this very clearly. If the Government of India gives us something today, then it will be not for Motha only, it will be for the Tiprasas. If our children get good education, if they can write examinations in the language they want to, then it will not only be for Motha but this will have an impact on all the Tiprasas. If the Government of India gives us pattas for securing our land rights. If it is done, then it will be for the Tiprasas not only for Motha. I know very well that I will not be able to struggle for long. So till I am alive I want to give something to my people, only then I will be able to find a place in heaven. But if I can’t do anything than it is of no use, I do not want to become a burden.”
Pradyot Debbarma who has been fighting for the rights of the indegenous people of Tripura had threatened to fast-unto-death on February 24.
In a sensational message to the people of his state, he blamed the Centre of being insensitive towards the indegenous people and their rights and said that he would not regret dying for their cause.
The very next day Pradyot was called by the central leadership in Delhi apparently to pacify things.
However, the Tipra Motha founder said that nothing fruitful had happened in the meeting following which he decided to stick to his demand of going for fast-unto-death.
