He assured that within the next two days, all nominations of his party for the Zilla Parishad across all districts would be completed.

The opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidates contesting for the Zilla Parishad submitted their nomination papers in Agartala on Thursday, just a day after the State Election Commissioner declared the date of the three-tier Panchayat elections.

A total of 16 candidates, led by former MP and CPIM senior leader Sankar Prashad Datta, participated in a rally before submitting their nomination papers to Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Magistrate of West Tripura who is the CEO Zilla Parishad and District Returning Officer.

Datta highlighted that alongside West Tripura, CPIM candidates also submitted their nominations in the Sepahijala district.

He assured that within the next two days, all nominations of his party for the Zilla Parishad across all districts would be completed.

This development comes amid allegations from the Opposition CPIM and Congress, accusing the ruling BJP of resorting to violence and raising questioning the State Election Commission and police alleging both to be partial.

The Panchayat elections are scheduled to take place on August 8, with the counting of votes set for August 12.
