The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the police headquarters in Agartala demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the mob lynching of three suspected cattle lifters in Khowai district.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Pradesh Youth Congress president Pujan Biswas condemned the role of Chief Minister Biplab Deb and has demanded him to step down from his position.
It may be mentioned that three individuals suspected to be cattle lifters were thrashed to death at Teliamura under Khowai sub-division on Sunday.
Things worsened after the trio allegedly tried to flee with cattle heads but were apprehended by locals and were brutally assaulted. The victims who succumbed to their injuries, hailed from Sonamura Sub-division of Sepahijala district.
The police upon receiving the information rushed to the location to rescue and shifted them to a local hospital and then to Agartala Government Medical College, where the doctors declared them brought dead upon arrival.
