The Tripura government on Tuesday introduced the ‘Promotion Policy 2021’ for its employees on an ad-hoc basis.

Addressing mediapersons in Agartala, minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the state government decided to adopt the new promotion policy in a bid to boost the work environment in government offices.

Nath added that the step was taken under the guidance of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb keeping in mind the scores of SC, ST and UR employees working in the state for many years without any promotion.

The minister also informed that this promotion shall not be treated as regular promotion as the case is still pending in Supreme Court.

He also said that promotion of government employees had been stopped since 2015 as the case of promotion has not been settled in the apex court yet.

“The government employees were losing their motivation to work without getting a promotion. Therefore the notification of ad hoc promotion has been issued shortly after the decision of the cabinet on Tuesday,” Nath added.

Furthermore, the process of promotion will be done from high rank officials and it will also open new door to unemployed youths, Ratan Lal Nath added.
