The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) today staged a massive protest in Agartala expressing concern over the escalating unemployment and drugs addiction in Tripura, particularly since the BJP assumed power.
Holding banners and placards, protestors were seen raising slogans, highlighting their dissatisfaction with the ruling BJP government’s approach.
The protestors alleged that despite numerous vacancies across various government departments, including education, the current administration is hesitant to recruit and, in some cases, even abolishing existing positions.
The demonstrators argued that only a small fraction of individuals secured employment through outsourcing, and even they face irregular salary payments.
They further lamented that the government’s recruitment policy has led to significant shortages of teaching staff in schools, prompting regular student protests on demand of recruiting teachers.
This shortage extends to other government departments as well, aggravating staff shortages due to the government’s reluctance to appoint new staff.
The protestors emphasised that this situation has fueled frustration among the youth, pushing them towards drugs and addiction.
DYFI took to the streets to voice their opposition to these issues and appealed to the general public to join their cause.
