Tripura: Couple dies after mud house collapses due to rainfall

The deceased have been identified as Rajen Tanti, aged 35 and his wife Jhuma Tanti, aged 26.

In a tragic incident, a couple lost their lives, while a three-month-old baby was injured after the mud wall of their house collapsed due to the incessant rain in West Tripura district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night at Meghli Para village under the Dharmatila Gram Panchayat under Old Agartala block.

As per inputs, part of a mud house collapsed, resulting in the deaths of two members of the same family, and a six-month-old baby with critical injuries has been admitted to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Rajen Tanti, aged 35 and his wife Jhuma Tanti, aged 26.

Both bodies are in the mortuary of AGMC & GBP hospital for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of their death.

Meanwhile, the three-month-old child of the deceased couple is struggling for life in the ICU of GBP hospital.

Senior officials of the administration including SDM, local BDO and Panchayat Samti members visited the spot and have provided immediate financial assistance under state disaster relief fund.
