In a significant development, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday, batted for ‘One Nation, One Election.’ He said after returning from a meeting with PM Modi and top BJP leaders in New Delhi. He said that frequent elections which are taking place round the year is hindering development processes. The Tripura CM’s statement comes amid the growing dissatisfaction expressed by BJP’s alliance partner in Tripura, the TIPRA Motha, which has threatened to reconsider its alliance based on the state government’s response to the State Election Commission in conducting the long pending TTAADC village council elections along with Panchayat Poll in August.
