Tripura Police has ordered an investigation into the allegations of ‘physical assault’ on youths whose vehicle had broken down ahead of the arrival of CM Biplab Deb’s convoy on January 13 in Telimura.
TheYouths identified as Angle Reang and Abhijit Debbarma had lodged complaints based on which the inquiry has been ordered on January 15th.
Issuing a statement, police said that an inquiry was ordered about the alleged physical assault by traffic personnel of the Traffic Unit. Moreover, the inquiry will be conducted by Deputy SP (Traffic) Koyal Debbarma.
The statement also stated that the concerned traffic constable have been removed from field duties till the inquiry would be over. A case bearing number 05/2022 has been registered against the incident at the New Capital Complex police station.
Royal scion Pradyut Kishore Deb Barman other student bodies of the state have already voiced their support for the students. Taking to Twitter, Pradyut Manikya wrote, “I stand with Abhijit Debbarma #Icfai . People need to answer why this is happening to our youth! Urge all members and leaders of Tipra to show solidarity with Abhijit and family.”
