Tripura: BSF foil cattle smuggling attempt, 1 trafficker injured in gun battle
The BSF jawans retaliated by firing at the four smugglers among which one was injured in the firing. The rest three of them managed to escape.
In a significant success, security forces along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura foiled a major attempt of cross-border cattle smuggling.
As per information, cattle smugglers attempted to cross into the Indian side of the international border by cutting the barbed wire fence in the Ragina Border outpost in the North Tripura district.
However, BSF jawans on duty were attacked by the cattle smugglers, after the security personnel detected their movement while trying to sneak into Indian territory.
Thereafter, the BSF jawans retaliated by firing at the four smugglers among which one was injured in the firing. The rest three of them managed to escape.
The injured smuggler has been rushed to the North District Hospital for treatment and was later handed over to Dharmanagar police.
Reportedly, the apprehended smuggler hails from Batuli village of Moulvibazar area of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Senior BSF officials including the Commandant of 139th Battalion S Shiba Murti and Company Commandant Pramod Kumar visited the spot after the incident to take stock of the situation.
