He reiterated that the state government is dedicated to improving Panchayat infrastructure, promoting good governance.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that the state is the only one in India to have implemented e-governance across all three tiers of the Panchayat system. He said that this digital transformation has streamlined financial transactions, improved record-keeping, and reinforced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision, positioning Tripura as ‘Digital Tripura.’

Saha made this statement while inaugurating the state-level One-Day Programme on Ceremonial Distribution of 475 Computers and Award Distribution Programme for the Best Performers of the National Panchayat Awards at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Friday. He stressed that the government is committed to strengthening the Panchayat system, ensuring sustainable development at the grassroots level, and enhancing transparency through digitisation.

“Our goal is to build a clean and efficient Panchayat system. Tripura is the only state in India where e-governance has been implemented across all three tiers of the Panchayat system. This has made financial transactions and record-keeping more efficient, integrating our system with e-office management,” Saha said.

He reiterated that the state government is dedicated to improving Panchayat infrastructure, promoting good governance, and accelerating rural development. He highlighted Tripura’s achievements in the Panchayat Development Index, stating that the state has reached the highest level in three key areas.

“This success is not an individual achievement but a collective effort. I sincerely thank the Panchayat Department, Rural Development Department, District Administration, and public representatives for their contributions,” he added.

CM Saha pointed out that Tripura has made remarkable progress in the Panchayat Devolution Index, moving from the 13th-14th position before 2015 to 7th place now. He credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for transforming the Panchayat system since 2018 through multiple schemes and initiatives that have strengthened rural governance.

With 70 to 75 percent of India’s population residing in rural areas, their development is crucial for the nation’s overall progress, he stressed.

Encouraging public representatives to adopt innovative ideas for Panchayat development, Saha highlighted key focus areas, including solar power, smart Panchayats, groundwater management, and solid and liquid waste disposal.

“If any Panchayat from Tripura secures the top position at the national level, it will prove that we are on the right track. Our recognition reflects our dedication and hard work,” he stated.

Saha also highlighted that Tripura’s Panchayats have received national-level awards for being women-friendly and child-friendly. He urged officials to ensure that all Panchayats uphold these high standards.

“Clean Panchayat is our core foundation, and everyone is working towards this goal,” he added.

CM Saha reiterated that merely distributing computers and awards is not enough the real objective is to strengthen the Panchayat system for long-term success. He urged all stakeholders to continue working for the people and enhancing governance at the grassroots level.
