Tripura Assembly porn row: TIPRA Motha says Speaker should be neutral

First Published: 9th July, 2023 19:15 IST

Leader of Oppositon Animesh Debbarma also took a dig at Chief Minister Manik Saha

The opposition in Tripura is gunning for BJP MLA Jadablal Nath who has been accused of watching porn in the house.
Leader of Opposition and TIPRA Motha leader Animesh Debbarma today alleged that the Speaker did not respect the Opposition’s plea forcing them to the well. Debbarma said that seeking action against Jadab Lal Nath was a simple demand.
He said, “Our demand was that Jadablal Nath, who watched porn clip in the Assembly should be taken to task. I had moved an Adjournment Motion and I wanted to know the status of the motion. But the Speaker did not look at me. We had no option but to go the well and raise slogan.”
“Speaker should be neutral,” Debbarma added.
Animesh Debbarma also flayed the role of Chief Minister Manik Saha and said, “What did the Chief Minister say, that it’s Jungle Raj. Our question is, the Chief Minister says the Assembly has been made impure by the act of Opposition. But it is sad that the CM did not say a word against the person who watched porn inside Assembly.”
The TIPRA Motha leader feels that the 5 Opposition MLAs were suspended for only trying to protect the sanctity of the House. Animesh Debbarma alleged,”people who violated the sanctity are being protected. Let people of Tripura judge the decision of Speaker and Leader of the House.”
