As per sources, the foreigners had illegally entered India through the Kailashahar Maguruli border area from Bangladesh.

They were arrested from the Kailashahar Paiturbazar area in Tripura’s Unakoti district.

As per Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Kanta Jahangir, the foreigners entered India from Myanmar refugee camps through Bangladesh.

The SP added that interrogations are underway and the infiltrators have been arrested.
Earlier on Monday, Border Security Force reported the issues of illegal infiltration and drug smuggling continue to remain the two biggest concerns for the Border Security Force in Tripura.
Addressing a press meet on Monday, BSF IG Tripura frontier, Patel Piyush Purushottam Das stated that a total of 1,018 illegal immigrants were apprehended while trying to cross the border into India.
