The incident took place in the Simlitola Narayanpara area of the Goalpara district yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as Sujan Malakar (34), Jit Karmakar (17) and Prasenjit Saha (age yet to be ascertained), and Gouranga Malakar (47), and Uday Sarkar (50).

As per inputs, a woman identified as Anjana Malakar died yesterday after suffering from a prolonged illness.

Due to the flooded surroundings, her mortal remains had to be taken to a crematorium approximately 250 meters away from their home by a country boat to perform her last rites.
