Two minors aged 3 and 8 years reportedly were killed after a devastating fire broke out at a building in Guwahati’s Beltola area on Thursday afternoon.

The victims have been identified as Ishan Goswami and his younger brother Evan Goswami.

It has been reported that the mother and grand-mother of the children were downstairs when the blazing inferno engulfed the top floor of the single-storey building.

The deceased has been taken to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe into the incident, which claimed the lives of the two minors.

The Assam Chief Minister has directed Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Kamal Kumar Baishya to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
