Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu loses to World No. 1 Tai Tzu-Ying in semis

Ace shuttler PV Sindhu lost the semis clash to World No. 1 Tai Tzu-Ying of Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) in straight games at the Tokyo Olympics badminton event.

Even though Sindhu put up a spirited performance to keep India’s hope for gold alive in the semi-final, the opponent proved to be too good for the world champion.

The Indian shuttler gave a tough fight in the first set, however, she lost the first game (18-21) and was totally outplayed in the second game as Ying won by (12-21).

Sindhu will now face He Bing Jiao for the bronze medal on Sunday. If she manages to beat Jiao in the bronze medal match, Sindhu will be the first female athlete to win two medals at the Olympic event in a row.

The 26-year-old badminton star had won the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
