In the wake of escalating tensions in Tripura, highlighted by the alleged custodial death of a youth in South Tripura and recent communal violence in North Tripura that left one person dead, 17 injured, and several properties torched, TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has urged his party’s youth to take a stand.
Debbarma, whose party is an alliance partner of the ruling BJP in the state, stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability. In an audio message on Saturday, the royal scion condemned the spread of communal tensions, suggesting it was being used to distract the public from critical issues such as development, employment, and unity.
Without directly naming other political groups, Debbarma emphasized that TIPRA Motha was founded to fight for the constitutional rights of Tripura’s indigenous people. He called on the youth to protest peacefully but firmly against injustice, corruption, and violence.
Debbarma also encouraged young leaders in his party to promote harmony among all communities, urging them to focus on maintaining Tripura’s peaceful atmosphere.
