The Lurin Jyoti Gogoi-led Assam Jatiya Parishad which made a promising debut in the Assam assembly polls despite not winning a single seat, has extended its support to TIPRA and resolved to work jointly with the party on issues concerning the indigenous populace of the region.

The announcement was made during a programme organised by the AJP in Guwahati to felicitate Debbarma.

Addressing the gathering Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that the AJP fully backs TIPRA Motha’s demand for Greater Tipraland. Gogoi added that the time has come for the indigenous people of the region to work together to safeguard their interests.

He further said that both the TIPRA and AJP will work together and also make an all out effort to rope in all indigenous regional forces in the region.

Meanwhile, giving a clarion call for indigenous forces to unite, Royal Scion Debbarma said that if Assam does not learn from Tripura, it will meet the same fate.

Debbarma also lashed out at the Congress for not standing with him on the issue of CAA stating that the party’s stand in Tripua forced him to call him quits. He called upon all regional parties in the region to back his demand for greater Tipraland.
