Three injured in Tripura Ulta Rath tragedy referred to Delhi for better treatment

Seventeen days after the tragic Ulta Rath tragedy in Tripura’s Kumarghat that had left 7 dead and several others injured, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said that three injured who are undergoing treatment in GBP Hospital in Agartala have been referred to Delhi for better treatment.
Chief Minister Saha, who also holds the Health portfolio, took stock of the condition of the injured at the hospital and said that the government would bear all expenses for sending these patients to Delhi.
Acknowledging and complimenting the efforts of local doctors, he maintained that doctors from Delhi had commended the treatment provided by the local doctors.
He said that two of the patients will be shifted today and one more will be shifted tomorrow.
Earlier, the government had declared compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh for individuals with over 60 percent burn injuries.
Additionally, Rs 75,000 would be provided to those with 40–60 percent burns.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 2 lakh for each deceased person and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
The state government has initiated a magisterial inquiry into the incident, although opposition parties have demanded a judicial investigation.
Seven people died after getting electrocuted after a chariot of Lord Jagannath hit high-voltage power lines at Kumarghat in Tripura’s Unakoti district on June 28 during the Ulta Rath Yatra.
