Pradyot Kishore Debbarma lamented that tribal communities continue to be divided along political, religious, and communal lines, preventing collective progress
Tipra Motha founder and Tripura Royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Monday urged the indigenous people of Tripura to remain united, emphasising that his party will contest the upcoming elections with strategic planning rather than emotional appeals.
Debbarma’s address signalled Tipra Motha’s strategic shift ahead of the crucial Village Committee elections, highlighting the party’s ambition to play a key role in the state’s political dynamics.
He said that this approach would enable Tipra Motha to emerge as a decisive factor or even a kingmaker in the political landscape so that the party is capable of negotiating its demands for the development of the tribal people.
Addressing a massive gathering at Nepaltilla in Dhalai district, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said, “Are you people with me or not? If we stand together, no one can break us, we will win. I am a son of Kshatriya, Tiprasa by blood, and this time, I will fight with strategy. You must stay united, for the sake of your children, and become the deciding factor in the next election. If we stand strong, victory is ours, but if we scatter, nothing will change. This is our last chance. I am with you, now you must stand with me. With your support, I need no one else.”
He said that meaningful progress could only be achieved if the indigenous population consolidated its support behind Tipra Motha.
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also launched a scathing critique of national parties, including the CPI(M), Congress, and BJP, accusing them of neglecting the development of Tripura’s tribal communities.
He lamented that tribal communities continue to be divided along political, religious, and communal lines, preventing collective progress.
Their conditions remain unchanged while national party leaders enjoy the benefits of development in the capital, Debbarma stated.
“God, Ram, Buddha… who said we should fight among ourselves? Look at where we stand today. Whenever funds arrive from Delhi, the majority is spent in Agartala, while poor tribals remain deprived whether under CPI(M), Congress, or the present government. If 1 lakh rupees comes, only 90,000 got stuck in Agartala. Why don’t you get your rightful share? Because the villagers are poor, and it’s easy to divide the poor. Meanwhile, CPI(M), Congress, and BJP leaders in Agartala sit together at night, do business, and then tell the villagers to fight each other,” hai said.
He urged his supporters to stand united, asserting that only through unity could he continue his struggle for their rights and secure tangible gains for Tripura’s indigenous people.
