Thilixu-Toulazouma, Sovima roads in Dimapur in deplorable state; locals demand govt’s intervention

The Thilixu to Toulazouma road, commonly referred to as the Half Nagarjan Junction Road in Nagaland, has been in a deplorable state for a long time, adding a tough time for the people commuting through the road.

Distressed over the condition, the locals have now shared their woes with the dedicated team from Project Constitutional Justice (PCJ) and demanded immediate restoration of the road.

Now, with the intervention of the Project Constitutional Justice Team and their proactive intervention, the citizens anticipate that justice will finally be delivered to the people residing in this region through constitutional avenues.

Visimetuo Nagi, member of the “Project Constitutional Justice” Dimapur Team, has emphasized that access to a well-constructed road is not merely a convenience but a fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution of India. Citing Articles 19 and 21, Nagi firmly believes that the citizens’ have guaranteed constitutional rights to access good-quality roads.

One resident of the locality said the condition of the roads is a huge concern for every citizen, and everyone is suffering because of it.

“We don’t know when the government will repair the roads, but if they do it will benefit the everyone,” he added.

An auto rickshaw driver also pointed out that during elections, many commitments were made by the representatives to repair the roads, however, the people have yet to see the light of day.

Besides, the Sovima road, widely recognized as the Tetso College Road, is also in a deplorable and pathetic condition, with potholes, eroded pavements, and gaping crevices endangering the lives of motorists, pedestrians, and students alike who traverse through the road on a daily basis.

The people of the area are now demanding immediate intervention from Nagaland government authorities.

The dilapidated condition of the road has posed a significant threat to the safety and accessibility of the students and staff of Tetso College, a prominent educational institution situated along Sovima Road.

Footage captured by the investigation team showcases people in the region struggling to navigate the hazardous terrain.
