Tezpur BJP MP RP Sharma has resigned from the primary membership of the party.
The MP quit the BJP party as he has been denied a party ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections; although the party is yet to formally announce the list of candidates.
It is quite likely that Sharma may join the Congress if the party fields him as a candidate from Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Reports are doing the rounds that BJP’s top strategist for the Northeast and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma will contest the parliamentary elections from Tezpur.
