Tension Along India-Bangladesh Border in Tripura: BSF Jawan Injured, Bangladeshi Smuggler Killed As BSF Fires in Self Defence

A BSF jawan sustained injuries and a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed when the BSF, guarding the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Sipahijhala, had to open fire in self defence as a group of 20-25 Bangladeshi smugglers who had infiltrated into India, tried to assault the BSF patrol party near border pillar 2050/7-S and snatch weapons from the BSF personnel.

As per inputs, the Bangladeshi miscreants illegally entered into India near border pillar 2050/7-S in the area of Border Outpost Putia and engaged in smuggling activities with local Indian counterparts. When the BSF patrol party warned the miscreants, they launched an attack, injuring a BSF jawan seriously.

The miscreants allegedly made a second attempt to assault the BSF personnel and tried to snatch their weapons.

In an act of self-defense a BSF jawan fired one round to protect himself. As a result a one of the Bangladeshi infiltrators was killed. The deceased Bangladeshi smuggler has been identified as Mohammed Alamin.
