The CM said that teachers engaged in private tuition has been identified and strict action has been initiated against them
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday came down heavily on teachers who are focusing more on private tuitions and neglecting teaching in the classrooms which is hugely impacting the quality of education in the state.
CM Saha said that some teachers are not dedicated to their duties. They are prioritising private tuitions, charging exorbitant fees depriving the students of classroom learning.
The CM said that the education department has already identified certain teachers engaged in private tuition and strict action is being initiated against them.
Addressing the students of Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ H.S. School in Agartala, the CM said that the prevailing culture of private tuition is adversely affecting the overall results in government schools, adding extra pressure on students who struggle to find time for self-study, sports, and leisure activities at home. Additionally, it adds an extra burden on parents.
CM Saha noted that the government is committed to strengthening the infrastructure for improving the education system, with key focus on ensuring quality education for bright future of the students.
CM Saha emphasized the importance of quality education rather than merely increasing the literacy rate, as pursued by the previous government.
During the event, the Chief Minister felicitated the students of Tulsibati Girls’ High School who secured positions among the top ten students in the Class X and XII board examinations this year.
He also inaugurated the nursery class, Atal Tinkering Lab, and the Iron Removal and Drinking Water Purifier Plant in the school on the same day.
