Another minor child died on Tuesday after he was infected with the H1N1 virus in Assam’s Cachar district, making it the second death due to swine flu in the last 4 days in the state.
The minor, hailing from Cachar’s Uttar Krishnapur reportedly breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on Tuesday night.
As per inputs, the minor was admitted at the hospital since April 12.
“At least 5 cases of Swine flu infections have been reported in Barak Valley and all patients were admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH)”, a doctor at SMCH said.
“At present, one patient is admitted to SMCH, two persons infected with H1N1 virus have been cured, and one infant has died. One is undergoing treatment at the SMCH in Silchar”, doctor added.
“We have informed all frontline workers to keep strict vigil across the district,” doctor further added.
On May 4, a 13-month-old child from Hailakandi district died because of the H1N1 virus infection.
