The SUV plunged into the gorge while trying to negotiate a sharp turn
One person (a woman) was killed and eight others were injured after their sport utility vehicle (SUV) fell into a deep gorge in Nagaland’s Kohima district on Saturday, May 20.
As per reports, the SUV carrying nine people was heading towards Manipur when the accident occurred on National Highway 2 at Phesamathe.
Police said that the SUV plunged into the gorge while trying to negotiate a sharp turn.
Locals of Phesama village and passersby rescued the injured and took them to a nearby private hospital for their treatment.
A woman who was critically injured died in the hospital, police said.
Four of the injured are receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the other injured persons were released.
