Arunachal Pradesh has geared up for the month-long celebration of its 36th statehood day.
The inaugural programme of the statehood day celebration began today at Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansari district.
The event was inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh governor BD Mishra. The programme is being attended by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, and Deputy Chief Minister Chown Mein, along with other dignitaries.
It is worth mentioning here that on January 20th, 1972, Arunachal Pradesh was formed from the erstwhile North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) region and on February 20th, 1987, Arunachal Pradesh was officially declared as a state.
The inaugural event is being held at zero because the then Prime Minister, Rajib Gandhi, announced the birth of Arunachal Pradesh at Ziro.
The main Statehood Day celebration will take place on February 20th at the Itanagar capital complex.
