SpiceJet’s commercial flight landed at the Pakyong Airport in Sikkim, 31 km south of Gangtok, after almost 17 months.
After conducting successful trials of the SpiceJet’s Q400 Bombardier, the flight touched down at the airport on Tuesday.
The airport was inaugurated on September 24, 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and commercial flight operations began on October 4, 2018.
The airport’s only commercial passenger airline stalled flight operations in June 2019, citing unconducive landing and weather problems.
The commercial flights will begin its service from January 28 next year.
Meanwhile, the people of the Sikkim have expressed their happiness over the resumption of the flight services.
