Monsoon season is well and truly underway in the Northeast with further rains being predicted across the region today. Fairly widespread rainfall is expected accompanied by lightning, thunderstorm and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kms per hour in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the next 5 days. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Sikkim today and tomorrow, with isolated heavy rainfalls expected in Assam and Meghalaya today.
