Special Honour: 2 Health Workers From Sikkim Selected as Special Guests to Attend Independence Day Celebrations at Red Fort

The Independence Day 2024 celebrations in New Delhi will consist of about 4,000 special guests.

In a moment of great pride for Sikkim, two distinguished health workers from the state have been selected as special guests for the 78th Independence Day Celebration ceremony at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi.

Glorymit Lepcha, an Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife serving at the Turuk Health & Wellness Centre under Melli PHC, and Tara Subba, an ASHA worker at the Phongla Health & Wellness Centre under Namthang PHC have been invited as Special Guests. This recognition is a testament to their exceptional dedication and contributions to the healthcare sector.

Lepcha and Subba have been pivotal in enhancing healthcare services in their respective regions, and their selection as special guests highlights their remarkable commitment to public health and well-being. Both will be accompanied by their spouses for this significant occasion.

However, this will be the second time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort, for the 11th consecutive time, after Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The Independence Day 2024 celebrations in New Delhi will consist of about 4,000 special guests.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the Indian government has invited a diverse group of guests to the 2024 Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi.

These guests include farmers, youth, women, and people from low-income backgrounds. Prime Minister Modi had previously referred to these groups as the four pillars of a developed India during a visit to Varanasi.

The special guests are categorized into 11 groups. Among them, 1,000 are from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare sector. There are 600 guests from the Youth Affairs category and 300 from Women and Child Development. Another 300 guests will come from Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, and 350 from Tribal Affairs. The School Education and Literacy sector and the Border Roads Organisation/Ministry of Defence each have 200 guests. Health and Family Welfare and Sports have 150 guests each, and there will be 1,200 guests from the Niti Aayog category.
