The Shillong police has received fresh inputs that some elements are still trying to create trouble in the city which witnessed over a week of unrest recently.

Talking to newsmen on the prevailing law and order situation weeks after the Shillong unrest, East Khasi Hills SP, Davis Marak said that curfew is being imposed in the city as a precautionary measure since police have inputs that some elements are still trying to make use of the situation and create problems.

Marak stated that past experiences say most of the disturbance usually takes place at night and hence the police do not want to keep its guards down. He, however added that the situation has improved but police is keeping a watch on the situation.

On the claim of Chief Minister that the unrest was sponsored, the police chief said that they have leads of people known for instigating the unrest and as such some are being questioned by the police.
