Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that plans are underway to establish a solid waste management plant in Itanagar and Naharlagun.
Speaking on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Divas, Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that the government is in the final stages of selecting the right machinery and technology for the project.
“The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor and his team have already identified a location for the plant. Now, the key task is choosing the best technology for it. I have assigned this responsibility to the Chief Secretary, who has significant experience in this area, having previously served as the Chairman of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),” Khandu said.
He also pointed out that the twin capital, one of the most densely populated areas in Arunachal Pradesh, is not as clean as it should be. Khandu emphasized the need for better urban planning to address issues like littering and inadequate waste management.
