In a significant development, police have arrested six militant suspects including two women involved in the IED attack near the BSF camp in Imphal West that had killed two BSF jawans and left three civilians injured.
The arrest comes a day after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that manhunt was on to arrest the culprits involved in the series of blasts in Imphal.
Police also recovered materials that were used for making bombs including C4 explosive and remote control devices from one of the arrested persons.
Of the six, five members including two women belonged to the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and a cadre of PREPAK (PRO).
Manipur Director General of Police LM Khaute said that the militant cadres were arrested from different places in a joint effort of Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal districts.
